About this work

Description

Cryptosporidiosis: Cryptosporidium parvum in the liver. Cryptosporidium parvum is a diarrhoea causing parasite. This is a high power view of liver tissue from a patient with HIV infection. Three intrahepatic bile ducts are seen in transverse section. Large numbers of cryptosporidia (very small, pink, round organisms) are present in the epithelium of the ducts. The cryptosporidia appear to lie on the surface of the epithelium, but they are in fact intracellular. H&E stain.
