Marjorie Wallace of the mental health charity SANE argues for better organized care for schizophrenic patients optimistically assigned to "the community". Care in the community, often fragmented, can be dangerous for those too ill to cope, and, as recent tragedies have demonstrated, dangerous for their families and for the health and social workers who come into contact with them.
