About this work

Description

Herbal medicine. Aloe vera. Pot-plant with tall spiked cactus-like fleshy leaves. Applied externally, has an absorbent action on ulcers and purulent ophthalmia. Soothes red, chapped skin. Also used as mosquito repellent and in alcoholic drinks for its bitter flavour. Put onto children's thumbs to prevent thumb sucking.
