The very recent and thorough revision which this work has enjoyed at the hands of the au'hor has brough' it so completely up to the present state of the subject that in reproducing it no additions have been found necessary. The success which the work has heretofore met shows that ;'s im- portance has been appreciated, and in its present form it will be found eminently worthy a continu- ance of the same favor, possessing as it does the strongest claims to the attention of the medical student and practitioner, from the admirable manner in which the various inquiries in the different branches of pathology are investigated, combined and generalized by an experienced practical phy- sician, and directly applied to the investigation and treatment of disease. We find that the deeply-interesting matter and style of this book have so far fascinated us, that we have unconsciously hung upon its pages, not too long, indeed, for our own profit, but longer than .re- viewers can be permitted to indulge. We leave the further analysis to the student and practitioner. Our judgment of the work has already been sufficiently expressed. It is a judgment of almost unqualified praise.
