About this work

Description

Transmission electron micrograph showing a capillary in an area of vascularised corneal stroma. A single, dark, red blood cell can be seen in the lumen of the blood vessel which is lined with endotheial cells. The junctions between these cells appear as dark lines. Below the endothelial cells is a layer of pericytes. The dark dots and lines in the surrounding tissue are collagen fibrils of the stromal matrix.
