![Extensive improvements are in progress, but as they belong to the current year, it is only necessary to draw your attention to them as they more properly belong to a future report. The further advancement of this Institution upon the principles of management hitherto receiving your advocacy will depend on the acquisition of more land, and therefore in again thanking you for your constant attention to the requirements of this Institution, I cannot but urge the indispensable necessity of a full considera¬ tion of this important subject. In compliance with a Resolution of the North Riding Court of Quarter Sessions, held at Easter, the following is extracted from the Superintendent's Seventh Annual Report, dated 27 th March, 1854.— f£r It may be interesting to mention, there is accommodation in the Asylum for 312 patients, inclusive of the Infirmaries. The Land comprises 88a. 1 r. 89]p. and cost £10,070 Is. 6d.; the various buildings, furniture and original outfit, £40,079 13s. 4d., making a total of £50,149 14s. 10d., which together is at the rate of £160 per patient for founding the Asylum.” At the Midsummer Sessions, 1855, it was determined to enlarge the Asylum for an increased number of patients, for which purpose £14,500 was voted, making in the whole, accommodation for 472 patients at a total outlay of £64,649 14s. lOd.
