Purchased at Sotheby's 23/7/1934, Lot 216 (part).

The compiler obtained his M.D. at Edinburgh in 1780, and was appointed first professor of chemistry, Dublin University, a post he held from 1785 to 1805 [see the Dictionary of National Biography].
