Biographical note
A purpose built centre was established in Zurich in 1998 to act as a central library and international information point about epilepsy. All Chapters were asked to send one copy of each of their publications to the centre, a video and DVD collection was established and the ILAE's institutional archive was held there before it was transferred to the Wellcome Library. The centre also collected training materials from courses held worldwide and epilepsy related databases. It was intended that the catalogue would be available via a joint ILAE / IBE website. Web developments however meant that the resource centre could be operated more efficiently electronically.
