About this work

Description

Visualisation of calcium waves during cycles 10-14 of Drosophila development. The embryo was co-injected with Ca-sensitive dye Calcium green dextran and Ca-insensitive rhodamine-dextrin and confocal images taken. Thus the ratio indicates real changes in calcium concentration and not changes in dye distribution or other artefacts. The images are of a cortical glancing section of the anterior pole. Ca waves initiate at the anterior pole and propagate to the centre of the embryo. The data are shown in flat format, calcium concn. shown by false colour and topography.
