The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "Two English prisoners of war pose before an elaborate painted drop. A standing figure wearing partial Naval officer’s uniform has his arm round the soldier of a seated figure in elaborate drag consisting of a high waisted frock in polka dotted fabric, headscarf over hat and wig, patent leather court shoes, and patterned silk stockings."
