C. .../ Pt.< 70 70 85 7710% P . 16 25 25 A cheap and easy method is to send out empty cartridge cases with sufficient wads, shot, and loading apparatus for them, and to buy powder in Cairo. This saves the heavy duty exacted on the importation into Egypt and also the difficulty experienced in getting a ship to carry loaded cartridges, which only the small Mediterranean coasting boats will do. As a rule, it is advisable to allow six weeks at least for the transport out, as the delays on the way and at Alexandria are very tedious, but since the great reduction in 1894 in the price of cartridges, there is little saved by importing unloaded cases, &c. into Egypt, and the sportsman can hardly be recommended to do so. The size of shot most suitable is No. 8 for snipe and quail, and No. 4 for duck pigeons, &c., &c. Messrs. Perreaux and Co., 5, Jeffrey’s Sq., St. Mary Axe, London, E.C., will undertake all the shipping, and their agents in Alexandria save all trouble to sportsmen by clearing and forwarding everything to its destination with all expedi- tion and regularity. + * A piastre is worth in English money about 2|d.
