About this work

Description

A pocket-book written at both ends with miscellaneous prescriptions and notes by three different writers. The folios from the commencement are 1 to 66; turning the book upside down, the folios from the other end have been numbered by Warren R. Dawson as + 1 to + 74. Sections 1-6 comprise the first part of the book, whilst sections 7-13 begin at the back of the volume.

Most of the leaves are blank.

The earlier handwriting (A) is a neat seventeeth century script, and the mention of "Dr. Willis" (i.e., Thomas Willis of Oxford, 1626-1675, Physician to Charles II) dates the manuscript to the second half of the century. The other two handwritings (B and C) are somewhat later, and are presumably those of subsequent owners of the book.
