Notes

Plate dated 1663 at end of dedication, above figure, but print may have been taken later. F. Agnelli (1626-1702) was active from the 1660s.
Apparently printed, with minor alterations, from the same plate used for a sheet published by Filippo Ghisolfi (Carlino 54), which may predate this one, as the Wellcome copy of the Ghisolfi sheet has a clearer impression. Ghisolfi has letterpress embellishments which are not present here; the illustration is signed Cesare Laurentio instead of Agnelli; and there are differences to the flap depicting intestines.
Carlino's entry is based on Calamida's description and reproduction, apparently taken from the copy subsequently acquired by the Wellcome Library.
Copy 1 Supplier/Donor: Martayan Lan. Note: 20th cent. paper backing.
