Mathison. III. MEDICAL INSPECTION OF PUPILS AT PRIMARY AMD SECONDARY SCHOOLS. (i) General. On the 31st December, 1954, there were 352 primary schools or depart¬ ments in the county including Scarborough. There were 45 secondary schools. Since 5th July, 1948, the Committee have been responsible for providing education for pupils in hospital schools ; the teaching there was previously provided by tuberculosis authorities and the governing bodies of certain long-stay hospitals.
