Description

Bacco in Toscana. Ditirambo di Francesco Redi, Academico della Crusca. On the leaf before the t.p. 'Copia dell'edizione di Giacomo Raillard. In Napoli 1687. 12mo'. Of this poem Tiraboschi in 'Storia della letteratura Italiana' (Vol. VIII, Part 2, p. 468), remarks 'Le poesi del Redi son per grazia e per eleganza vaghissime, ma sopra ogni cosa e stimato il suo "Bacco in Toscana", ditirambo a cui non si era ancora veduto l'uguale, e forse non si è poscia ancora veduto'.

1 volume 38 ll. + 30 bl. ll. 4to. 24 × 191/2 cm. Original vellum binding. Written on rectos only, in a neat copper-plate hand. The paper is water-marked 'I. Taylor 1794'.
