Description
The eighth in a 10-part series investigating diseases from around the globe. Each programme features a single disease and looks at attempts to develop treatments that are effective and affordable to the world's poor who make up the majority of the victims. This part features Rotavirus - a viral form of acute gastroenteritis which causes severe diarrhoea in young children. The introduction of a Rotovirus vaccination is shown, developed by GlaxoSmithKline, but too expensive for countries like Mexico where the disease is rife, killing 1000 children a year.
