About this work

Description

Including archive footage from previous Horizon programmes, this documentary, presented by Dallas Campbell, looks at what makes humans clever. Some of the programmes focused on the difference between animals and humans, others looked at clues from human development, such as cave drawings. Campbell looks back at the work of Francis Galton and a Horizon drama about Cyril Burt and his work on eugenics. Robert Klark Graham's research into intelligent genetics and his 'genius sperm bank,' a repository for the sperm of intellectual men. A Horizon programme which tested the IQ of seven different people, successful in their fields, is shown and Intelligence testing in general is debated. Work on artificial intelligence was the subject of a number of Horizon studies and these are shown including a study of the work of Kurzweil into computer intelligence.
