Venepuncture.

This film commences by showing how good and bad venepuncture can affect the doctor-patient relationship. The first sequence takes place in a typical surgery with a patient who has not experienced venepuncture before; the procedure is performed with ease. The second scenario is less successful. The first half of the film deals with common errors and how to avoid them. Needles are shown highly magnified, emphasising how these can inflict unnecessary pain and injury. The second half of the film shows the correct procedure, including the choice of the right vein. Intravenous injection of fluid is also briefly illustrated.
