![REPORT* of the Superintendent be printed and circulated. To THE Committee of Visitors. My Lords and Gentlemen, The summary which I have to lay before you of the admissions, discharges and deaths for the past year, shews an increase in the year of 49 persons. The removals during- the year of the remaining Berkshire Patients from Licensed Houses, amounted to 51. The number of Pauper Lunatics in confinement at the end of the year was two less than at the beginning. The number admitted from the Parishes during the year has been eight less than in the year preceding; and the proportion of chronic cases of which there was no hope of recovery, has also been less. The proportion of discharges has consequently increased. The proportion of deaths is in the same ratio to the number of persons under treatment, as in the previous year. The readmissions of Patients have consisted of 4 Males and 6 Females j of whom 3 Males and 2 Females were discharged and readmitted within the year. One of these Males has been again discharged in a sound state of mind j and one * Rule 25.—[of the General Rules of the Asylum.] The Superintendent shall sub¬ mit to the Committee of Visitors, at their first Meeting after the^Oxfordshire Epiphany Quarter Sessions annually, a Report, in writing, of the general condition of the Asylum, and the number and character of the Patients ; distinguishing the numbers who have been received and discharged as cured ; the number of readmissions ; the number em¬ ployed, and in what manner; the deaths which have occurred in the preceding year, and also the total number of discharges, cures, and deaths since the opening of the Institution, and specifying the sexes iu each statement; with such other facts as the Superiatendent may think desirable, or which the Visitors may have suggested.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30310830_0004.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
