About this work

Description

Cultured cells stained to show the serotonin transporter protein in green. This is the protein responsible for the reuptake of serotonin from the synaptic cleft and is the target of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class of antidepressant drugs. The blue staining highlights the cytoskeletal protein, actin.
