    ON THE FOREST AND OTHER TREE OF ABERDEENSHIRE. By G. DICKIE, M. D., Lecturer on Botany in the University and King’s College of Aberdeen. (From the Quarterly Joitrnal of Agriculture for March 1843). In the Aberdeen Flora, published a few years ago, some remarks were introduced respecting the general features of the vegetation in the vicinity of Aberdeen ; these chiefly had reference to the smaller wild plants, trees of natural growth being rare, and of inconsiderable dimensions in the lower parts of the county. Since that time my attention has been directed to the vegetation in other parts of Aberdeenshire, and in some of these, the trees of natural growth occupy a very prominent feature, and cover extensive tracts. Be¬ lieving that some account of these, as well as of planted trees, whether indigenous or exotic, might, in the mean time, be interesting, and feeling conscious that the exertions of any single individual would be unequal to the labour of procuring the information wished for, a circular was addressed to gar¬ deners, foresters, and others, in different parts of the county. A considerable number of reports w^as received, the results ' of which are embodied in the following remarks. A
