In consulting the different authors who have written on Chincough, I found it repeatedly mentioned that the disease was more fatal some years than others; that it was more mild or more severe according to the season of the year, that it was most dangerous at a particular age; and lastly, that the female sex suffered more from it than the male. These observations accorded with a sort of estimate which I had previous- ly formed, but still I could find no certain data to rest upon.
