About this work

Description

Die-cut card image of a yellow and green parrot with orange back and wings possibly from the 1930s. It was soaked in D.D.T. as an insecticide with the intention of killing flies. This would have looked bright and cheerful hung up in a room, a step up from messy fly paper. We have numerous other cards from other manufacturers of about the same period in the form of kittens, puppies, ships, fish and a bouquet of sweet peas. There is a similar printing of this [EPH 176:17] with extra text which is printed over the tailfeathers of the parrot. Presumably an earlier one.
