And whenever the contrary difpolition is difcovered, it altoge- ther fhews a want of candour, and points out an obftinacy, not only culpable with refpedl to our private characters, but de- fer ving of cenfure as it regards fociety ; for fuch a temper tends to prohibit every kind of difcovery that may either improve our own knowledge, or benefit our fellow- creatures.
