Religio veterum: or, A general history of religious worship, (both true and false) observ'd in the church for 4000 years. In two volumes. I. Giving an accurate account of the worship, service, and religion of the church from Adam to Moses; as likewise an ample description of the Tabernacle, the temple, with the vessels and instruments thereof, the ministry and ceremonies of the Mosaic Law, to the time of Jesus Christ. II. Of the origin of all the idolatries of the antient pagans; wherein the mysteries of the pagan divinity are fully unfolded, and explain'd so far as they relate to the erroneous worship, which for so many ages obtain'd among the people of God. The whole intersperst with a curious variety of critical inquiries, and what is most observable in Buxtorf, Selden, Aynsworth, Dr. Lightfoot, &c. on this head; being of great use towards the reconciling some differences in chronology, as well as illustrating many difficult passages in the sacred history. Translated from the French of the celebrated Monsieur Jurieu.
