The woman is an Akalan, or Nihangani (female Akali or Nihang) - a Sikh warrior.
Page 19 in an album of Company drawings ranging in subject-matter from social scenes, trades, religious scenes and deities, gardens, sports and portraits. All drawn in watercolour, some with pencil and oxidised gold, some similar to the Kalighat style
