Case-book and medical common-place book, including also copies of correspondence on medical and other subjects. In Latin and English, written partly in shorthand. Contents: Case-book in Latin, containing 149 'Historiae'. 1716-1723. (225 pp.). Copies of letters, mostly in English and in shorthand. 1731-1737. (57 ll.). Commonplace book in double column in Latin and English, written partly in shorthand. 1712-1725. (237 pp.). (Beginning at the other end of the volume) 'Examen Dom. G. Bayly apud honorandum Dom. Hans Sloane Baronettum M.D. et Praesidem Collegii Regalis Medicorum Londinensium, nec non Gualt. Harris, Joh. Bate, Tancred Robinson, socios ejusdem Collegii, Ex quo approbatus fuit praedictus D. Bayly, et judicatus dignus qui praxin medicinae per universum Angliae regnum exerceret, ... Londini die decimo octavo mensis Julii Ann. Do. 1720'. This is followed by a verbatim account in Latin of the oral examination. On the fly-leaf 'Sarah Bayly was Sarah Carter in Jan'y 1729'.

Biographical note
Bayly was a physician of Chichester, where he died on December 1st 1771, aged 77; there is a monumental inscription to him in the Church of All Saints in the Pallant. He had studied at Leyden under Boerhaave in 1715, and graduated M.D. at Rheims in 1716.
