About this work

Description

Looks at tsetse fly control in Kwazulu-Natal, beginning with the history of ngana, the form of trypanosomiasis which affects cattle, and the work of Sir Walter Hely-Hutchinson and Sir David Bruce. As eradication is impractical, traps are used to keep pockets of land free from tsetse flies. These traps are demonstrated and other methods of control - cutting down trees, spraying from aircraft and cattle dipping.
