The scrapbook contains Retreat publicity material and appeal leaflets, newspaper cuttings and and other papers including copies of letters of support. Included is a notice of arrangements for the Development Appeal Council meeting 7 October 1958 and a photograph of the Appeal Council, Retreat Committee members and staff taken 7 October 1958, at the time of the meeting. The press cuttings in the scrapbook date from 8 October 1958 to 8 November 1962. These trace the development of the appeal campaign and its results, including material on appeal events, modernisation of wards, the opening of the new Nurse Training School in September 1960 and the unveiling of the plaque commemorating the success of the appeal, November 1962
