About this work

Description

Typewritten note by Bonté Elgood about Lord Kitchener's support for her work with Egyptian women and the creation of a hospital and midwives' school in Cairo named after him (as well as scholarships for young Egyptian women to train as doctors in London). It explains how various portraits of him, and a bust, might not be wanted now (in 1956 it was renamed the Charitable Hospital for Women in Shubra), so the Embassy in Cairo might be able to reclaim them.
