Description

Collection of medical receipts, and some cookery receipts. Inscribed on the second leaf (p. 17) 'Lettitia Mytton. 1720'. On p. 97 '25 July 1749 Doctor Nichols gave me this Receipt [for Beef Tea] when I was very ill and weak. London', This is probably Frank Nicholls M.D., F.R.S. [1699-1778].

Biographical note

The compiler of this and the preceding MS. was the daughter of Roger Owen [1675-1717] of Condover, High Sheriff of Shropshire in 1708. She married Richard Mytton of Halston [ -1731].

Ownership note

Armorial book-plate of Reginald Cholmondeley of Condover Hall [1826-1896]. He was the brother of Thomas Cholmondeley [1823-1864] who took the name and arms of Owen instead of Cholmondeley.
