    who, on the invitation of the President, gave the Com- mittee the benefit of their assistance. The Committee at its first meeting elected Dr. Brtstowe, Chairman, and Dr. Payne, Secretary. The Committee also nominated a Sub-Committee on Classification, consisting of the following members :— Dr. Bristowe, Chairman. Dr. Ord. Dr. Buchanan. Sir Wm. McKinnon. Dr. Wm. Ogle. Mr. Dick. Dr. P ye-Smith. Mr. Hulke. Dr. Gee. Dr. Payne, Secretary. Dr. Gee subsequently resigned his position on this Sub-Committee. Dr. Wm. Ogle, on his retirement from the Genera] Register Office, was succeeded as a member of the Sub- Committee by Dr. Tatham. The following Sub-Committees were appointed to revise the classification of Local Diseases :— For Diseases of the Nervous System, Dr. Gowers, Dr. Tooth, Dr. Beevor; For Mental Diseases, Dr. Hack Tuke, Dr. Savage ; For Diseases of the Eye, Mr. Nettleship, Mr. Gunn ; For Diseases of the Ear, Sir William Dalby, Mr. Field ; For Diseases of the Nose, Mouth, and Throat, Dr. De Havilland Hall, Dr. Semon, Mr, Butlin ; For Diseases of the Circulatory System, Dr. Gee, Dr. Ord, Dr. Sansom; For Diseases of the Respiratory System, Sir Dyce Duck- worth, Dr. F. Roberts; For Diseases of the Digestive System, Dr. Lauder Brunton, Dr. Allchin ; For Diseases of the Teeth, Mr. Tomes, Mr. Mummery ;
