Schistosomiasis: vulva

Schistosomiasis due to Schistosoma haematobium: histopathology of the vulva This is a low power view of the vulva which shows the surface epithelium to the top left. H&E stain. A pair of adult Schistosoma haematobium lie in a mid-dermis vein (centre), and eggs laid by the female worm can be seen beneath the epithelium. The surrounding tissues are inflamed.
