Description

Bible. N.T. Matthew 2.12-22. A palm stretches out above the family. The Gospel of Pseudo-Matthew says that of a palm bent down to yield dates to the travellers. Mary's pregnancy suggsts the return from Egypt, but Chereau's (and Vorsterman's) lettering implies the journey to Egypt
