About this work

Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Traditional Massive style, depicting a volcano, with streams of red and yellow lava flowing down it. This artwork was by a girl in a children's home, about fourteen or fifteen years old, who had already made a similar picture. Rita Simon stated, "On the left and right, she has overpainted to create distance. There is freedom: the red anger is cooling off with yellow overpaint. A gorgeous painting!"

The title has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.

The date has been taken from other items in the section.
