![solution of iodine in potassium iodide, the mercury is replaced by iodine with formation of an iodo-compound, which is probably ^-iodo-4:-hydroxy-2-methyl-5-isoj)ropylbenzaldehyde, crystallising from alcohol in pale yellow, octagonal prisms, m. p. 128—129° (Found : C, 43-8; H, 4-3; I, 41-8.
