About this work

Description

Musculorum humani corporis picturata dissectio ... nunc primum in lucem edita. The drawings were by Girolamo da Carpi, and were said to have been engraved on copper by Augustino de' Musi. Only the first book containing the muscles was published. The end-papers are water-marked with a reproduction of a medallion of Pope Pius VII, 1800-1823 [1742-1823].

Purchased 1922.

Location of duplicates

A carefully executed copy of the famous pre-Vesalian work, of which only three copies are known, and which was published probably shortly before 1543.
