Frank Rowntree talks about fireworks safety. He mentions the large number of under13s who are hurt by fireworks. He asks people to consider whether giving young children 'a penny for the guy' is a good idea - especially if fireworks are bought illegally. He catalogues all the specific safety issues and safeguards for handling fireworks.

Francis St. D. Rowntree 1928-1996 was awarded the OBE in 1986. In 1987 he was appointed Vice President of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and also Vice President of the Institute of Health.
For a period in the 1970s, Frank Rowntree was the Health Education Officer for Sheffield. He was invited into the BBC Radio Sheffield studios for a regular short weekly health spot.
