About this work

Description

On a building site, the respectable premier Zhou Enlai stands together with the workers. He is standing between tractors and taking a rest. Zhou is holding a metal mug and a pair of gloves with a wooden stick next to him, which might be his working tool. He sees no difference between himself and other workers, and counts himself as one of them. The painting shows that as well as being responsible for leading the country, he is also a servant to the masses, sharing their joys and hardships. In the task of building our country, the painting implies, our leader was together with us at all times
