Leaves briftle-fhaped ; thofe at the bafe foon decaying, but not falling off: thofe on the ftems with long fheaths and fpear-fhaped elongated fheath-fcales. Panicle terminating, dividing by threes and calyx. Corolla, valves fhining at top; outer valve with a knee-bent briftle like awn, placed is longer than the calyx. — MELICA. on a pedicle betwixt the florets. ~M. Panicle thinly fet: calyx 2-flowered: one floret hermaphrodite, the other neuter. It grows in woods and fhady glens, Abun- dantly in Luttrell’s-town wood, county of Dublin. | G About Be unzflora.
