2 portrait photographs : Galton has annotated one of the photographs on the reverse with extract from letter from Jastow dated 19 Aug 1887 "Composite of 21 Johns Hopkins Doctor of Philosophy of the years 1886-1887 made for Mr Jastow by Professor Shaddow of Smith College who will publish them in the Century Magazine. The average age of the sitters is 27 years". Wishes to have a list of Galton's publications because he was going to mount an exhibition.

Jastrow, Joseph (1863-1944), an American psychologist, was one of the first scientists to study the evolution of language. He worked on optical illusions.
