About this work

Description

Disabled people and representatives of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Muscular Dystrophy Group and the British Epilepsy Association argue that medical research funds are not well spent if they are largely devoted to seeking cures for disabling conditions. To claim that disabled people pin all their hopes on a cure is to insult and reject them. Rather than trying to "normalise" the disabled, research funds would be better spent on helping them get on with their lives, free from the obstruction and segregation that many disabled people face from unsympathetic transport systems, etc.
