Description

A painting in Rita Simon's Traditional Linear style, depicting a creature with a nail being pushed down its throat. It was produced by a tuberculous patient in a sanatorium

Reproduced in The Symbolism of Style, plate 1.4 and discussed on pp162-163.

The title has been taken from wording written on the verso.

The date has been taken from notes made during conversations between Rita Simon and Wellcome staff between 1995 and 1997.
