About this work
Description
Dr. C Everett Koop presents this programme that explains why America needs to reinstate a National Museum of Health and Medicine in Washington DC. The building housing the original museum was demolished in 1968 and the contents put in storage. A brief outline of American medical history is illustrated. Possible ideas for features and galleries in a new museum are shown. The programme concludes that a museum of this kind is needed as a centre to study the cultural, historical and social forces that shape human health, while at the same time educating the public against spiralling health costs.
