9 volume stamp album (1043 commemorative and fund raising stamps) on the theme of the international Red Cross (Henry Dunant features often). It consists of postage stamps mounted onto individual sheets in ring binders housed in slip cases . The collection is arranged alphabetically by country (Abyssinia (see Ethiopia) to Yemen). Volume 1 has a colour portrait of Basil O'Connor who was appointed chairman of the central committee of the American National Red Cross by President Roosevelt in 1944 and appointed first president of the American National Red Cross by President Truman in 1947. He was elected as chairman of the board of governors of the League of Red Cross Societies from 1945-1950. Includes a list of decorations and honors received by him from Red Cross Societies between 1944 and 1950.
