States of Mind: Installations

'States of Mind: Tracing the edges of consciousness' will feature a series of installations:

'The Whisper Heard', Imogen Stidworthy, 4 February-24 April
Contrasting the language acquisition of a young child with that of a stroke patient with aphasia - a condition which affects the language centres in the brain - 'The Whisper Heard' explores language, meaning and identity.

'H.M.', Kerry Tribe, 26 April-17 July
Using two synchronised projectors to play two parts of a film with a 20 second delay, 'H.M.' reflects the experience of a patient whose case radically advanced our understanding of memory.

'Time Present', Shona Illingworth, 19 July-16 October
This powerful installation considers the impact of amnesia and the erasure of individual and cultural memory.
