Apply now to take part in a free project for 14 to 19-year-olds to learn the trade of conjurers and magicians, then step into the spotlight and perform.

What you’ll do

By taking part in our summer RawMinds project, you’ll get to work with professional magicians from Abracademy to learn about magic, misdirection and trickery. You’ll work in teams to produce short magic shows and science demonstrations that explore the psychology and mechanics behind magic tricks. After the project is complete, you’ll have the opportunity to perform your routine in front of an audience in the exhibition performance space.

What you’ll get

You’ll learn more about how our minds can be tricked and develop skills such as event planning, production and performance. These skills will be relevant to related courses you’re currently studying, as well as future education or employment in this area. Your food and London travel costs (zones 1–6) will be covered during the project.

The project will take place over two Saturdays in July and two Tuesday to Friday weeks during the August summer holidays.

  • Saturday 27 July, workshop 2
  • Tuesday 30 July to Friday 2 August, project week featuring workshops 3–6
  • Tuesday 20 August to Friday 23 August, project week featuring workshops 7–10

What others have said about RawMinds projects

It has been an amazing experience! Highlights were getting the game to a stage where we can work on it, making the music and playing it in front of others.

Young person from RawMinds Spring 2019 Game Design Project

It was a lot of fun. I always really looked forward to going to the sessions in the morning, before it had actually started.

Young person from RawMinds Spring 2018 Improvised Comedy Project

The project was very interesting and fun, and the fact there was no expense or fees for all the opportunities we got is amazing.
