Saturday 24 February 2018

14:00-15:15

15:15-16:30

16:30-17:45

Join us for an afternoon of zine-making activity on the theme of bodies, led by the artist Raju Rage. Each workshop will use our exhibition ‘Ayurvedic Man’ as inspiration to explore illness and wellbeing, as well as related issues of gender and colonialism.

Across the afternoon our three workshops will each explore a different theme relating to bodies and health: illness and wellbeing, who owns medicine, and gender and health. These sessions will draw on issues explored in the exhibition, such as Eastern versus Western approaches to health, colonial history, traditional versus alternative treatments, the interconnection of art and science, and gender and health, and will look at how these are depicted in archives and the exhibition.

The workshops will combine a range of skills and approaches involved in zine creation – including drawing, discussion, gallery time, collage and photocopying – for you to create your own short zines.

How to get involved

These workshops are for young people aged 14–19. There are 20 spaces in each session – first come, first served. You’ll have the best chance of getting a space if you turn up at least 15 minutes before the start of the session. Each session will last one hour, and you’ll be able to stay on for the following one if there isn’t a waiting list.

This event is FREE.
