Join our visitor experience facilitators for a day of slow looking and immerse yourself in the act of observation.

You’re invited to take time to study and contemplate some of the artworks in our collection, and to describe and discuss your impressions.

Drop into the Forum anytime between 11:00 and 17:00 to learn more about slow art and try it for yourself.

You can also join one of four guided tours happening throughout the day exploring topics including food, mental health, and the environment.

Tours will last about 45 minutes and start from the Forum at 11:45, 13:15, 14:15 and 16:15.

11:45 – meet Isabelle for a slow tour.
13:15 – meet Griff for a slow tour of the paintings of Bryan Charnley
14:15 – meet Sana for a slow tour about unlocking food memories.
16:15 – meet Jake for a slow tour of three artworks.

This is a relaxed event, so you can move around during the session. There will also be a chill-out room with cushions, blankets, ear defenders, earplugs and stim toys.

Slow looking is a form of active learning that gives you the chance to engage with art and objects on your own terms and at your own pace. No experience or knowledge about art is needed. The intention is to spend up to 10 minutes with a single artwork.

Slow Art Day is an annual, international event celebrating art.
