What you’ll do

Lights Up sessions

Lights Up sessions are an opportunity to explore our exhibition, ‘The Coming of Age’, with brighter and more even lighting conditions across the gallery.

A sensory map and large-print guide are available for use in the gallery. There is also a digital guide with audio description and BSL videos and a visual story available online. Staff are on hand for additional support.

You can drop in to a Lights Up event at any time during the four-hour session, and you don't need to book in advance.

Dates and times of Lights Up sessions

  • Saturday 18 April, 14:00 – 18:00
  • Wednesday 13 May, 10:00 – 14:00
  • Friday 5 June, 14:00 – 18:00

Audio described tours

There will be a bookable audio described tour during each Lights Up session. Tour groups are limited in size, so you'll need to book a place in advance to join. Your tour guide will describe key visual elements and discuss highlights of the exhibition.

Location

We’ll be in Gallery 1. When you enter Wellcome Collection, it’s on the left on level 0.

Place not guaranteed

Booking a ticket for a free, in-person event does not guarantee you a place. You should aim to arrive 15 minutes before the event is scheduled to start to claim your place. If you do not arrive on time, your place may be given to someone on the waiting list.

Waiting list

If this event is fully booked, you may still be able to attend. We will operate a waiting list, which opens 30 minutes before this event starts. Arrive early, and we’ll give you a numbered ticket. If there are any unfilled places just before the start time, we will invite you to enter in order of ticket number.
